Intensive Treatment Program

Started in 1997, Kerr’s Intensive Treatment Program (ITP) is Oregon’s first secure residential facility with services for children who have both developmental disabilities and mental health needs. At ITP, boys, ages 12 to 17, who pose a danger to themselves or others receive education, therapy, skills training and placement services.

The goal is for every boy to develop the stability and skills to successfully live in the community.

Achievements:

  • In 2006, Kerr provided 3,014 days of care for 18 boys and their families.
  • 61 percent of the boys came directly from a hospital, crisis facility or detention setting.
  • 59 percent successfully moved to a community-based foster or group home or with birth or adoptive parents.
  • 27 percent entered other residential care.
