Visiting Friend
Minimum Commitment: One hour per week for 9 months
Position Summary: Be a friend to children or adults receiving services for behavioral and emotional challenges and/or developmental disabilities. Play games and sports, cook a meal together, do arts and crafts, read a book, talk and just spend time together. Minimum age is 18 for Youth and Family Services. No minimum age for Developmental Disability Services. This is a great family volunteer opportunity!

Skills Classes
Minimum Commitment: One class, 30-minutes or one hour in length. May continue with weekly classes for one month or longer.
Position Summary: Provide group instruction to enhance skills for children or adults. Examples of classes include: how to ride public transportation, banking, communication skills, nutrition, physical fitness, etc.

Animal Assisted Therapy
Minimum Commitment: 30 minute to one hour visits weekly or biweekly for a minimum of 9 months

DIY Volunteer
Minimum Commitment: one-time or ongoing
Position Summary: Become a Handyperson for Kerr group homes - help mend broken fences, clean-up yards and gardens, build raised-bed gardens, fix leaky faucets, the list goes on and on!

Music Therapist
Minimum Commitment: 9 months
Position Summary: Music can help meet the physical, psychological, spirtual and social needs of individuals served by Kerr and their families. Commuicate, motivate, soothe and calm or enliven, alleviate pain and anxiety, or lift the spirits of the children and adults living in residential facilities by singing or playing a musical instrument. Musical instruction is also encouraged

Community Inclusion Volunteer
Minimum Commitment: 2-4 hour visits are preferable, as fits your schedule and program needs. Scheduling is flexible. Weekly, monthly, or bi-monthly visits preferred. Community Inclusion services are offered Monday-Friday, 8:00 - 5:00 approximately
Position Summary: Participate in various activities offered at the Community Inclusion site, supporting and spending time with adults who have developmental disabilities. Examples: story-telling, makeovers, photography, music, theme days, parties, crafts, paper-making, gardening, games, coffee clubs, etc.

Medical Records Filing
Minimum Commitment: 20 hrs. / week for 3 months.
Position Summary: complete log of back-filing for medical and adoption files. Abilty to lift 35 lbs., ability to learn filing system with training. Ability to respect confidentiality a must.

Foster Care Assistant
Minimum Commitment: 6 months
Position Summary: Aid Kerr's growing Foster Care program by acting as an office support volunteer. Skills with filing, answering telephones, general computer and organizational skills necessary. Great opportunity for a retired individual, college student or anyone interested in "behind the scenes" volunteer work.

Family Resource Center Librarian
Minimum Commitment: No minimum
Position Summary: Help to inventory and organize the library at the new Family Resource Center on Kerr's Gresham Campus. Computer and Internet research skills as well as previous library cataloging experience desired. Help just once or ongoing.

American Sign Language and Dynavox Coach
Minimum Commitment: 2 - 4 hour visits, 2 times per week for 6 months
Position Summary: Help an individual in a Kerr group home make meaningful connections with the world around them by coaching / teaching American Sign Language and Dynavox skills. A volunteer is needed to visit the home two times per week for 2 - 4 hours and assist staff in strengthening these communication resources for the person served.
